This is for all the athletes out there who can't use their legs to run but have arms and a set of wheels to go faster than the fastest runner has ever gone before. This is for the athletes who don't have legs to play ice hockey but get into a sled to slap shot pucks into a net and win a game and inspire all of us typical people in the mean time.  This is for the runner who runs without eyesight and does it with her faithful guide by her side...all 26.2 miles just because she can.  This is for the swimmer who can no longer stand on two feet because of an accident that almost took her life and now she is getting back into life the 'game of life' by competing again.  This is for all the injured military, the children born with spina bifida, cerebral palsy, the cancer that took their leg(s), or the 100's of other reasons why these athletes thrive because of what sports and competition has given them back to their lives.  This is for the countless hours that volunteers put in to make this all happen and the dedication and heart it takes to do this on a day to day bases that changes lives forever.   This is for the athletes, the families, the volunteers, the coaches, the supporters, the organizers, the administrators, and the community that contributes to making all of this happen.  We do it because we can.  We do it because we know that seeing someone overcome, go beyond, stretch and become more than what they thought they were capable of doing makes us all better people in the first place.  We do it because each part of the puzzle that we contribute makes the entire picture a grander vision than if their were no pieces to fit together at all.  We do it all and we do it over and over again because sports changes not only the lives of kids and adults with different abilities but it changes our communities to be better places to live and excel at this game we call life.  This is what GLASA does and this is why I run.  I run for the heroes. Whether they are in the game or helping out in anyway they can... I run for you... the final piece of the puzzle that just may complete the picture...I run so that they can compete and we can be inspired by their accomplishments.  Give today because you can.
